The NBOA is dedicated to being the voice of the neighborhood housing industry in Chicago. We work to lift up voices of housing providers who live in their communities, shop in their communities and hire in their communities: people who have a unique ability to help public officials understand our industry.
As the voice of the neighborhood housing industry in the Chicagoland area, the NBOA works to build respect for housing providers and advocates for their behalf with public officials.
In the media and in public events, the NBOA tells the story of the community leaders who maintain an operating neighborhood housing—especially naturally occurring affordable housing, which makes up 70 percent of all affordable housing.
- We work to ensure accurate representation of our industry in the media.
- We regularly convene a group of housing providers to discuss policy in advocacy.
- We lobby public officials with respect to matters that impact neighborhood housing.
