NBOA Board Member Jeff Weinberg (NSBC) wrote this letter to the editor explaining why the Northwest Side Preservation Ordinance is such a bad idea, and the Chicago Tribune featured it in their Sunday edition on March 9, 2025.
“The [Northwest Side Preservation Ordinance] does nothing to address the root causes of housing affordability issues — which are overwhelmingly due to the simple need for more housing. Instead of engaging the people who already provide affordable housing to seek solutions, ordinances like this risk stifling the very neighborhoods it aims to protect by creating uncertainty, potentially reducing housing quality and discouraging investment.”
