Chicago’s Department of housing has deferred enforcement of the controversial Northwest Side Affordable Housing Ordinance until November 29, 2024.
This ordinance would create a right of first refusal for tenants in the affected areas, which are generally Logan Square, Avondale and Pilsen.
There are many unanswered questions about the measure, including its exact boundaries (and whether Pilsen is included), and many negative ramifications including loss of value for the seller and problems with financing transactions in this area.
Watch this page for updates as the NBOA leads the effort to address this measure.
